Created for the "Lo-Cal" Gain Jam hosted by WeightGaming.com for 2023.

The game tasks you to be the character's lil conscious and try to steer them into being able to go into a full hibernation sleep (at least 7 months), but they always seem so petite and can barely get 3 months in. During their wake time you'll try and drive their decisions to help them reach that 7 month long slumber. While during their down time you can subconsciously alter their needs and responses as you'll need them to pack on the weight in the next go so they can sleep longer.

Each "day" you choose an option of what they'll do and see how their stats fluctuate, the stats being Weight, Strength, Income, Happiness, and Willpower. After each run your awarded R(EM) points (permanent points you can collect and redistribute) and Z points (dream points that you can distribute freely and resets on each run).

I didn't get a chance to write the win condition, but I planned to award the player a star on their profile for reaching 570lbs and completing every task there was. So you can consider "beating" the game to be those 2 conditions. I may add this feature in after the jam.

Hey James, I ran into an issue playing the desktop version where I made it up to 29/35 tasks finished. Yet once I finished the day none of the tasks were loading in? Not sure what went wrong but I figured I'd let you know.

Thanks for the bug report, I'll look into it and make sure I didn't overlook something πŸ˜…

Make a mobile version on the browsers

My dude, out of all the games you're asking for mobile support, THIS one does indeed support it through the browser! (Or are you just reinforcing the requests you've been making for my games?) If your having trouble playing this one then let's trouble shoot it, it could be a browser compatibility issue I'm not aware of :3

If you need help, I can see a lot of potential with this project and would like to help out.

Yeah I do need some help with this project, me and the folk who enjoy this game would greatly appreciate it since I'm going to get pretty busy in a couple of weeks and still need to update another game in the mean time, so having any extra hands would help me out a lot πŸ‘

(+1)

alright, how can I help?

If you have a discord you can join my server so we can collaborate more effectively, especially when itch is down temporarily πŸ˜…https://discord.gg/8dDXPxbGfV

I'd like to know your skill sets so I can give a more proper task, like are you artistic, programmer, musical? This game needs help on all fronts atm πŸ˜‚

Happy New Year! I Ver 1.1.0 has been released just before the clock struck 12 my time! Here is what you need to know:

- Fixed spelling errors and missing texts, including for the Education scenario

- Adjusted some values of options

- You can now choose to start from the hibernation screen or start a new run when you come back to the game

- Icons now adapt their image to your current stat level

- A version value has been added to the bottom left so you can see what version of the game you've been playing

I hope some of the small tweaks are welcomed as I slowly get back to figuring out all the spaghetti noodles I made from the jam XP

what should this game be played on if you downloaded it

So apparently the executable has XXS security which results in browsers not loading it in correctly, its a protocol protection so using a local webhost like WAMP or XAMPP to host the files on should bypass the protection. I'll update the download instructions to help with this oversight. ^^;

Hi, I got the task "lose all your happiness", but it's nearly impossible: once your happinness is too low, you can't do any more happiness losing task, and thus, except if you are very lucky with the number, you have 1 or so in happiness at the end.

I would suggest to either make that the task is successful if you are under the minimum value for stat reducing task or that you can do a task reducing a little a stat if you are not at 0

(+1)

Also, bug: if you put R points in a stat, at the end of the next run, the cost of the upgrade will be the total of the invested points (ex: if I invested 4R in Shoulder Cricket, in the next run, I would need to invest 4R or 40Z to upgrade it by 1, instead of just 1R or 10Z). Resetting the upgrades fix that

Thank you for the bug report! I'll see about figuring out a fix to that since that would be really annoying to complete ^^;

And I'll look at the investment bug since it could be a calculation error on my part. Though if you could double check for me, that it isn't already leveled with R. Z points reset after a run but R points do not so the stat could be leveled up, if I understand your description correctly.

(+1)

I didn't try since then if the bug was fixed but here is the problem I had: example: I get 4R in run 1 and invest them to upgrade something 4 times (1R for each level), the 5th level is also indicated to be just 1R;

I complete run 2: instead of costing just 1R, the 5th level costs 4R (or 40Z) now; so reaching the 5th level cost a total of 8R; but if I reset the R, it would only cost 5R in total.

Basically, what I had was: if I invested R in an upgrade in a previous run, the next levels of this upgrade would cost the total of R already invested in it in the following runs instead of the normal cost.

I tested the bug multiple times and it always appeared

I haven't looked into bug patching this specific issue yet, but thank you for the detailed report! It'll help me with debugging and what behavior to look for πŸ‘

Are you in any way related to the famous director Tim Burton?

(+2)

Sadly, I am not, but I bet if we were related he'd be a cool uncle πŸ˜…

(+1)

Cool indeed

(+1)

Also, if you need any help with a character's design, gimme a ping

(+1)

Ping! May I take you up on this offer and have some ideas for new character design parts please? :3

(+1)

I can help if you would like as I have done some art in this category on my free time although I will warn you im no expert and your stuff is likely better, but I could help you get some base designs. I will be busy for the next handful of days though.

(+2)

Could you make it possible to download as an HTML file?

(+1)

Apologies for the long delay, as requested I made the HTML file available :3

(+2)

Thia game still gets updated??? If It gets Will you add more weight gain stages?

If it gets an update it'll be in December. And I could look into adding more weight to them for the next update ;3

cool

(+1)

When will you add the update that can give infinite statistics???

Currently trying to get clips of Chowdown Showdown pulled together for Quimbly's Belly Direct, so an update for this will be a while πŸ˜“

(+1)

oh ok

(+1)

you can add a sandbox mode to make the game easier

(+1)

What would Sandbox mode for the game even look like? Giving the player infinite stats in order to customize a run how they wished? πŸ€”

(+1)

yes as you just said

(+1)

I enjoy the game a lot, but I will say that having the "Don't lose any stat values" quest always available deincentivizes exploring options a bit too much. Those 5R are simply too valuable to give up, even for finishing another task.

The quest tasks are always a hit and miss, I added it in since it would mean you'd need to go out of your way in a run to complete it, or at least it was my reasoning for its inclusion. The quest tasks design was to force the player to interact and manage their stats, but it could have been implemented better tbh. That's the nature of Jam games in whole πŸ˜…

(+1)

Could you add download for .html aswell as android plz? It would also be nice to have a save function at the least.

The game should be able to run on Android from the browser, and it should save the tasks you've completed. I could fix it so if you've played before that it'll send you to the Hibernation screen instead of making you go through a run to reach it again πŸ˜…

(+1)

That would be nice. Maybe for those who want to play long term, add an import export function in settings.

you can add a sandbox mode so that I fatten the character more

(+1)

i got too around 500lbs is that where the weight stages stop or are there more?

(+2)

Weight stages stop after 570lbs, so you could "push" it a little more ;3 (See its funny cuz the game jam's theme is "Push the Limits" lol)

(+1)

could you maybe add a new customization such as hair/fur, a color brown, a new color pattern such as stripes, and maybe perhaps some new options such as, "hyper mode" that increases your weight gain by 200lb per scheduled event or maybe some new breast expansion event or a new option into the setting menu that can adjust music, sound, and a keep weight option so sleeping doesn't make you lose weight at the end of the day.

Bruh, I don't think I can stuff all that in within the game before the jam ends 🀯 ...maybe post-jam? 😹

Out of that list I only managed to get brown added as a color (technically 2 browns, regular brown and reddish brown) before the jam ends. I can't believe I didn't have brown in my list of colors before haha XD

(+1)

Looks like I did all the tasks (on mobile)

I'm glad to know that they're all doable 😹 (Sadly this would of been the good time for saving to include all progress, working on that next πŸ˜…)

(+1)

ok nothing changed, I got a task where I have to go through a run without losing any stat value, but increasing them also counts as failure, so I am now soft-locked with one task

I haven't rolled out an update yet πŸ˜… I found the bug though, so hopefully I can update it soon, I'll let'cha know when I push out the update thoughπŸ‘

New version is out, and someone cleaned house on the task system so it should be working now πŸ˜…

(+1)

maybe add a little sequence as the character you're playing as, as a reference depending on how much weight you gain, how much strength you've just gained,  how happy your expression is, how broke you are, and finally your will power basically your inner core or basically your main spirit of your will powe

(+1)

Tasks are broken, whatever I choose willpower goes down even if the choice indicates that Willpower will go up, so I am softlocked without having the ability to reroll tasks or getting more buffs

Planning on adding a reroll option, do you remember what specific task was giving the issue or which scenario was lying about the values? The numbers could have got jumbled up at some point, and I can definitely say the code looks like a fresh plate of pasta πŸ˜…

(+1)

It happened with multiple tasks, what appeared to be the cause was that in the "have a turn without decreasing <value> (mostly willpower) the task would be counted as a failure even if the certain <value> was to be increased
